How does Biofield Tuning Work?

Our body – an instrument that is tuned by its environment

Science shows that we perceive sound through our entire bodies. Our skin, our bones and the water that makes up a major part of our being, are all conductors of sound waves. What’s more, the membrane of each cell in our body carries external antennae, primary cilia, which vibrate like little tuning forks in response to the vibrational input from our environments.

But sound also has an impact on the energy field that is in and around the body. In 1994 a panel of scientists at the National Institute of Health chose the word “biofield” to describe the field of energy and information that surrounds and interpenetrates the human body..

The « Biofield »

This « biofield » is composed of measurable electromagnetic energy as well as what is known as subtle energy or, in Asia, chi. Subtle energy is also known by the term “bioplasma”, a magnetically charged plasma that surrounds the body of all living beings, both fauna and flora. Like with fluids, the density and viscosity of bioplasma vary.

According to the ancient and modern cultures of India, Japan, China and others, this field possesses a well-defined anatomy that includes the chakras (« wheel » in Sanskrit). Chakras are defined as vortices of spinning energy. Hence, it’s not surprising that a cluster of nerves is grouped around each one.

An energy map of our life experiences

Eileen Day McKusick has been exploring the impact of the pure tones of tuning forks on the biofield for over 20 years. In line with the findings of numerous energy psychologists, her research has found that an energetic or electromagnetic record of the experiences that have marked our lives is stocked in the part of the biofield that surrounds the body. Traces of different types of experiences are stocked in different areas of the field in a consistent pattern. This has made it possible to map out an anatomy of the biofield.

The therapeutic work

The specific emotions that are linked to these energy traces of our life experiences generate different frequencies. When the therapist sounds the tuning fork and passes it through the biofield, these different frequencies are reflected in the harmonics (« over-tones ») that the fork produces at the moment when it comes into contact with them. As such, a trained Biofield Tuner can pick up on the presence of a whole range of emotions that are stored in this autobiographic energy record of our lives.

Thanks to the biofield anatomy map and an understanding of the language of the forks, the Biofield Tuning Practitioner can firstly detect areas of dissonance in the field and identify their source. Further work with the forks enables us to interrupt the unbalanced or discordant pattern of vibration that is associated with these areas of dissonance and re-establish a balanced, coherent and harmonious frequency in that part of the field.

The dissonance dissolves, the resistance is released and there is a corresponding release of tension in the body. In other words, we re-tune the biofield to its original harmonious settings. In accord with the principal of harmonic resonance, we entrain a vibrational coherence in the biofield by exposing it to the vibrational coherence of the tuning fork.

What happens in a Biofield Tuning session?

During a Biofield Tuning session, the client, who is clothed, lies on a massage table. I start by opening the energy circuits of the body and the biofield by placing the weighted tuning forks on certain meridians in the body and by activating the tuning forks in the biofield.

Following this, once we have located a zone of the body and the field that require clearing, I activate a tuning fork and scan the energy field starting at the outside edge. I’m seeking zones of resistance and/or turbulence. These zones can be detected by the change in the tuning fork’s vibrations (tactile sign) as well as by the subtle changes in the tones that the tuning fork emits (auditory sign).

When I encounter such a zone, I keep activating one or other of the forks in the area. According to research conducted by the founder of Biofield Tuning, Eileen McKusick, the regular wave of sound produced by the tuning fork entrains a vibratory reorganization in that part of the energy field, which enables the body to retune itself and thus to regain a coherent and harmonious pattern of vibrations where we have worked.

The dissonance and the resistance in the biofield dissolve and this is associated with a release of tension in the body. This input of regular tonalities seems in fact to help the body to process the energetic imprint of an experience lived in the individual’s past and, following the de-blocking of the stuck energy, we reintegrate the freed-up energy.

Working with the anatomical map of the energy field, developed over twenty years by Eileen McKusick, we can associate energy blocks in the field, not only with a certain type of experience that the individual has lived through, but also the approximate age at which the person had this experience. In other words, we can work with the energetic autobiography of the person. Restoring a regular wave pattern to the energy in the biofield, liberating stuck energy and re-centering it brings calm and clarity, whilst at the same time providing an energy detox.

How many sessions ?

It’s always good to have a preliminary trial session to see what Biofield Tuning is all about. However, for significant energy shifts, we recommend a series of 3 weekly sessions. This will make it possible to work deeply on one or more aspects of your health and/or well-being.

There are no limits to the number of sessions and the ongoing benefits you can get out of Biofield Tuning. Each session builds upon what has been accomplished in previous sessions and enables you to keep increasing your vital energy.

Follow-up

In addition to the sessions, I am happy to provide anyone who is interested with a series of short, sound-vibration based exercises to consolidate what we have achieved in our sessions.
